CASA for the Cross Timbers Area traveled to San Marcos earlier this month to attend the annual Texas CASA conference, Improving Outcomes for Children. The title speaks to the commitment we all have to see that every child in care has a CASA volunteer who provides quality advocacy for the child/children they are serving. Abuse and neglect have a profound impact on the children who suffer. But even worse, is the trauma that continues when children are uprooted from their homes and taken from everything that is comfortable to them. It is important that these children are having all their needs met and are moved to a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

CASA for the Cross Timbers Area joined forces with Texas CASA to advocate for a CASA for Every Child..CASA for the Cross Timbers Area is encouraging all football fans to join Team CASA and speak up for abused and neglected children.

CASA for the Cross Timbers hosted its first annual "Paint the Square Blue" event in honor of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The evening began with Executive Director, Cristie Campbell welcoming everyone and giving some startling facts about abuse. It included Chelsea Lanier providing information on CASA and with Blair Young reading the proclamation that was signed by mayor Nancy Hunter. The evening ended with Cristie reading a poem and the release of balloons to honor the 227 children that died of abuse in 2010.
